2008 Red Roan Mare
Return to Previous Page

Strawberry is 92% NFQHA (F0035140). She is a 2008 mare we raised. We named her “Strawberry” because she was born sorrel and we expected a red/strawberry roan. She turned a silvery blue at her first shedding and at weaning time she looked like a chocolate roan.  In reality she is a very dark chestnut roan with varnished lower legs and a black mane and tail. Her tail has some reddish highlights.  She has a few white forehead hairs and a smidge of white on her rear right pastern.  The name stuck because we never thought of anything better. Her mother, Fancy Roan Belle is an awesome 87% NFQHA producing mare with one stallion standing at stud and we are riding another bay roan daughter, Docs Fancy Roan (maternal sister to Strawberry). Strawberry's bottom side pedigree is deep in Reeves breeding from South Dakota--Fancy Roan Bar, Roan Bar, Bell Boy Bar, Tom Baker, Bar Nothing Springer and Bartender. You cannot ask for a better foundation, ranch, cow, or arena bloodline.  Her sire, Mr Salty Peponita, was 100% FQHA foundation and was by Peponita. As a granddaughter of Peponita, we look forward to her worth in our broodmare bunch.

We continue to be very impressed with this young mare. Her disposition is first rate and she's filled out just right. She was a pasture greeter as a foal and continues to be friendly, easy going and laid back. Strawberry was started under saddle fall of 2010. We rode her some in the summer of 2011 and sent her for additional training in fall of 2012 with Sara Schank who put a fine tune on her. We really love how Strawberry moves. She has a very smooth and rocking gait. Not only does Sara ride horses, but she also is a fantastic artist. Check out her website at http://www.artbysarajean.com. Strawberry has proved herself this past year and after much debate to keep riding her or breed her, we decided to pasture expose her to our stallion JK Jay Reed for 2014. Her foals will be 94% NFQHA eligible with Pine Cone. We are very excited about this pairing. Strawberry had a blue roan filly Raz Ber Rita Reed JW! We will be retaining her for our program. Strawberry will not be exposed for 2015 foal. She will be exposed again to JK Jay Reed aka Pine Cone for a 2016 foal and had a bay roan filly, Riviera Reed JW. We switched gears with Strawberry and exposed her to Whoop Up Whiskey for a bay/bay roan 2017 filly, Whiskey Up Bonita JW. We bred Strawberry to Tien Quarter Horses Stallion, Two ID Sweet Buck and got a 2018 buckskin filly, Miss Two ID Peponita, we are keeping for ourselves. In 2019 she produced a red roan colt, Paddys Gin Jafar JW, by  TRR Paddys Texas Gin.  She had a bay stallion, Top Gun Arlington JW, who is a mini me of his sire Top Gun Whiskey for 2020. We have exposed her to Walter O Rielly for a 2021 foal and she had a palomino/palomino roan filly, Manzanita Drift JW. We swapped her back to Top Gun for a 2022 foal and she had a bay/bay roan stallion, Top Gun Stingray JW. We swapped her again back to Radar and she gave us a buckskin/buckskin roan filly we will be keeping for ourselves, London Blue Drift JW
