Born 4-30-10. ‘Riley’ is a VERY nice stout, leggy filly---solid sorrel with no white! Her sire is JK Jay Reed aka Pine Cone, a 96% foundation bred stallion with Poco Pine, Continental King by King P-234, Joe Reed II and Whiskey Bert all on his papers. Pine Cone has King P-234 fairly close up and goes back to him six times. Riley’s dam is VG Docs Peppy Rose whose paternal grandsire was Docs Flying Bar and he stood at Texas A&M University. Through him, she still has Doc Bar on her papers and Jet Smooth and Mr San Peppy just off her papers. Her bottomside may not have great names close up, but she is still a very well bred mare. Her bottom goes back to Skipper W, Three Bars, Gold Mount, Ed Echols, Oklahoma Star, Joe Reed II, Piggin String, Flying Bob, and even Man O'War to name a few. Big Sonsation was a great-grandson of King. This filly has a strong dose of Joe Reed II and goes to King P-234 seven times. Riley may not have one of the fancy colors, but she will be a deluxe riding horse that will be able to cover ground in a very smooth gait. She will be able to go any direction from trail to ranch horse with plenty of ‘cow’ and stoutness for roping as well. Check out two other JK Jay Reed riders, My Kittys Belle JW and Whiskeybertshadow JW.
UPDATE 7-4-14. Riley is a rich looking sorrel/chestnut typical of many of the JK Jay Reed foals. The Docs Flying Peppy mares really add a lot of nice style to their foals and Riley is no exception. Riley is a friendly, level headed filly and doesn't get shook up. She's been stout all along and will stay stout with a lot of substance. She is big---we expect her to be close to 16 hands. Jake is roping and ranching on her in Nebraska and absolutely loves her. In fact he loved her so much, he purchased her paternal brother, Yoda.
