Thanks Schlegel Family!

Born 5-6-13. We are having a little fun by using a Dance theme for names this year. 'Hokey’ is a very nice chestnut colt with no white except for about 6 white forehead hairs. His dam, Mujer Lucy Skip JW aka Lucy, is a beautiful solid buckskin mare with a frosted mane that is 83% NFQHA. Lucy was purchased from Grantier Quarter Horses because her mare line is very close to several of our VERY PROVEN ranch horses. Lucy goes seven times to King P-234, has lots of Joe Reed, a strong shot of Skipper W and if you like Dewey Dial/Johnny Dial horses this mare is deep in that breeding through Grantier’s stallion, Dewesun. Her sire Mujer Tacky Jay, now deceased, made a name for himself producing using horses for the family, ranch, arena and youth. We really believe in these horse families. Lucy is quickly becoming one of our top producing mares. Her previous foals, 2010 Paddys Gin Laredo JW, 2011 Paddys Gin Luke JW and 2012 Paddys Gin Skip JW were all by TRR Paddys Texas Gin.
Hokey is her first foal with JK Jay Reed aka Pine Cone, a 96% foundation bred stallion with Poco Pine, Continental King by King P-234, Joe Reed II and Whiskey Bert all on his papers. Pine Cone has King P-234 fairly close up and goes back to him six times. Hokey is 89.5% foundation eligible with the NFQHA and will be able to go any direction from trail to ranch horse with plenty of ‘cow’ and stoutness for roping as well. His lines will also give you plenty of old time speed. JK Jay Reed offspring have a lot of cow, speed and athletic ability as well as they have wonderful dispositions. Don’t forget that Hokey goes back to King P-234 a combined 13 times!! Lucy has been producing foals in the 15 hand range. Both dam and sire are HERDA N/N so he is also N/N.

UPDATE 10-14-13.  Hokey is weaned, halter broke, vaccinated and ready to go.  He is a sweet colt with a lot of fun mixed in.  He is probably the hidden gem in this year's foal crop.  Don't pass him up!  He's gonna be a good one!
