2013 Bay Stallion
Return to Previous Page

Born 5-30-13. We are having a little fun by using a Dance theme for names this year. ‘Mac’ is a very nice stout, leggy colt. He is a solid bay with no white. His sire is JK Jay Reed aka Pine Cone, a 96% foundation bred stallion with Poco Pine, Continental King by King P-234, Joe Reed II and Whiskey Bert all on his papers. Pine Cone has King P-234 fairly close up and goes back to him six times. Mac’s dam is VG Docs Peppy Rose whose paternal grandsire was Docs Flying Bar and he stood at Texas A&M University. Through him, she still has Doc Bar on her papers and Jet Smooth and Mr San Peppy just off her papers. Her bottomside may not have great names close up, but she is still a very well bred mare. Her bottom goes back to Skipper W, Three Bars, Gold Mount, Ed Echols, Oklahoma Star, Joe Reed II, Piggin String, Flying Bob, and even Man O'War to name a few. Big Sonsation was a great-grandson of King. This colt has a strong dose of Joe Reed II and goes to King P-234 seven times. His 2010 full sister, Peppy Riley Reed JW, has been started under saddle and joined a Nebraska ranch. His 2011 full brother, Bandersnatch Reed JW will be staying in ND with Schlegel Horse Training. ‘Mac’ will be a deluxe riding horse that will be able to cover ground in a very smooth gait. He will be able to go any direction from trail to ranch horse with plenty of ‘cow’ and stoutness for roping as well.

UPDATE 2-4-17.  Mac is fantastic to look at and he has such a nice easy going demeanor.  He is coming 4 years old and is really coming into himself.  He is currently sticked at 16-1 in height and he is really filling out.  He will be impressive as a fully grown horse.  He is with our friends at Tri-State Quarter Horses, Jamie and Benny Miller in Llano, Texas.  They have brought him along slowly and he is solid in his skills.  Mac will have further opportunity to continue with roping and ranching activities and grow into a total family horse.
