Born 5-22-15. ‘Cider’ is an adorable buckskin filly with a small star that has bursts of hairs around it, a disconnected strip and snip and a partial left rear pastern. We cannot express how excited we are for this filly to join us here on the ranch. Her mama, Charjody, is a gorgeous 84% NFQHA double bred Two Eyed Jack mare with him still on her papers. She also goes back to Babe Cody by Bill Cody. We have already retained her 2008 daughter, Peponita Stareyed JW aka Bubbles, for our program. Bubbles is one of the ranch’s main saddle horses who also produced her first foal in 2015. Bubbles has such an awesome disposition and a lot of cow to her. In between 2008 and 2015 Charjody has produced some fantastic foals with whatever stallion we put her with and we have one buyer who has 4 of her offspring.
Charjody’s other foals for us have been 2010, Charmander Reed JW, 2011, Charizard Reed JW, and 2014 Char B Reed JW; all full brothers and 2012 maternal sister, Paddys Gin Tookie JW, who are all four in North Carolina with the same buyer. Charjody’s 2013 stud colt, Paddys Gin Jig JW, is in Utah as an all-around ranch horse prospect.
Cider’s sire, Walter O Rielly aka Radar, is new to our program and this is his third foal crop for us. We were looking for a foundation Driftwood bred stallion to hopefully get some replacement fillies out of some of our best mares. Radar is a 90.234% foundation bred perlino stallion that goes to King P-234 ten times, to Driftwood four times with strong doses of Joe Reed, Three Bars and a little Doc Bar. Radar is a 16 hand horse with a huge stride and a gentle personality. Charjody and Radar came through with this filly who we expect to ranch on first and eventually add to our broodmare bunch to be an out cross mare for our Paddy Irish Whiskey stallions. Cider is 87% NFQHA eligible and is bred to be an all around great using ranch horse.
UPDATE 8-9-16. Cider is solid and sound. She is halter broke, has had her feet trimmed and is up to date on vaccinations. We had kept her off the for sale page as we were growing her and another Radar daughter out to decide which one to keep as a riding mare. We have the 2 year old going well under saddle and have decided that we do not need them both a year apart in age. Video and additional pictures available upon request.
