Thanks Dary!

Born 5-10-16. Some years we do a fun theme for names.  This year we decided to go with American Made Muscle Cars from the 50s, 60s and 70s. We have had some fun researching them.  This stud colt is named after the 1970-1975 Ford Maverick Grabber.

‘Maverick’ is a dun stallion with a rear left rear partial white pastern.  Please read about his mother, Baby Ruth, and you will see why she is important to our son and to us. Maverick will not be able to be registered with AQHA, but his background is all quarter horse and fairly high percentage foundation. Baby Ruth is an athlete and this colt should be too with a proven background and not a thing wrong with him other than the lack of AQHA papers. You don’t ride the papers and if papers don’t matter to you, Maverick should easily have a future as a riding athlete. His bloodlines are accurate even without the papers to prove it. This is the perfect chance to get a foundation bred foal with cow, looks and history at a much discounted price.  He is the 8th of full siblings. His 2009 dun full sister, Taz, went to Tennessee where she is now registered with IBHA and has stood 3rd in the world for American Ranch Horse Association (ARHA) for yearling mares and 6th in 2 and under youth mares in 2010. She has since been started under saddle very successfully and recently we had the chance to acquire her back and are ranching on her. Taz is very mellow and wonderful to have back!  2010 dun full brother, Yogi, is in Kentucky, started under saddle and we continue to hear good things about him. 2011 Yoda has been started on a ranch in Nebraska.  2012 Muff is in Tennessee with a repeat buyer purchase. 2013 filly, Shimmy, went to be the family ranch horse in Oklahoma. Baby Ruth’s 2014 filly, Chile, was injured as a weanling and is unfortunately no longer with us. 2015 stallion, Snuffleupagus, is in California.

Maverick’s sire is JK Jay Reed aka Pine Cone, a 96% foundation bred stallion with Poco Pine, Continental King by King P-234, Joe Reed II and Whiskey Bert all on his papers. Pine Cone has King P-234 fairly close up and goes back to him six times. With his dun factor Snuffy could be registered similarly to his sister with IBHA. All of Maverick’s siblings have easy going personalities and have been gentle to halter and saddle break. They are all like peas in a pod.  If you know one you know them all.  This is a VERY CONSISTENT pairing. Maverick will mature at 15-2+. We’d love to offer him towards a 4-H youth. He will be a pleasant horse to have around your family! Please talk to us about Maverick as he will be for sale.

UPDATE 9-23-16.  This is a gorgeous, powerfully built colt.  Probably the stoutest that Baby Ruth has had so far.  He is halter broke, weaned and an all around nice colt.
