2009 Dun Mare
Return to Previous Page

Born 5-14-09.  This is a beautiful solid dun filly—no white, beautiful head and lots of dun factor.  Her sire is JK Jay Reed.  He is 96% foundation and he throws wonderful dispositions on his babies.  Please read about her mother, Baby Ruth, and you will see why she is important to our son and to us.  Ryan has named her Taz.  Taz may not be registered, but her background is all quarter horse and fairly high percentage foundation.  Baby Ruth is an athlete and this filly should be too.  She’s got that gorgeous color, a proven background and not a thing wrong with her other than the missing piece of paper.  You don’t ride the papers and if papers don’t matter to you, this filly should easily have a future as a riding athlete.  Her bloodlines are accurate even without the papers to prove it.  This is the perfect chance to get a foundation bred foal with cow, looks and history at a much discounted price.  We would gladly discuss her with anyone interested in her as a 4-H or FFA project.

UPDATE 4-4-10.  It has been a joy to have Taz with us this long so that we could really see her personality and disposition develop.  Taz will be traveling to Tennessee along with Docs Racer Reed JW and we will be excited to follow her progress in ranch horse competitions.  Her new owners plan to pursue the opportunities of registering her in other associations based upon her color and that only require one registered AQHA parent.  We wish them lots of success.

UPDATE 9-2-15.  Well here we are 5 years later and Taz is back home with us on the ranch after her wonderful adventures in Tennessee where she showed in Ranch Horse Competitions, had one foal, was broke out very nicely and grew up beautiful.  She has been put to work here on the ranch and is fitting in wonderfully.

UPDATE 6-20-17.  She is the first of so far 9 full siblings who are all like 'peas in a pod' regarding personality and trainability.

UPDATE 2-17-21.  Taz is still a using ranch horse here for us.  She remains broke the same every time we use her so she makes an excellent ‘on the ready’ horse.  Her dam was paired 12 times with JK Jay Reed and had 12 live foals.  JK Jay Reed has passed away and Baby Ruth will have her first foal with TRR Paddys Texas Gin in 2021. Taz was the FIRST of TWELVE!

We now have finally exposed Taz to our youngest stallion Goldun Topsail for a 2023 foal. Even though this baby will be grade, we fully believe in Taz's abilities and her dam's proven quality that we want to get some foals out of Taz before she gets too old.
