Born 6-7-23. Some years we do a fun theme for names. This year we decided to go with Geology and things that come from the ground.  Many of these names are a little loose in thoughts regarding if they are elements, minerals, rocks, gemstones or colors etc.  Sandstone is a sedimentary rock consisting of sand or quartz grains cemented together, typically red, yellow, or brown in color.

'Sandstone' is a buckskin filly with a small star, big snip, but not sure on her leg markings quite yet. Her dam is one of our newer mares, Lethas Lena aka Lena. She is a sweet well-built stocky bay mare. Her sire is Lethal Playgun owned by GBL Farms. He has a black type pedigree inclusive of multiple maternal money earning siblings (one being Thomas E. Hughes) having earned more than $812,000. Lethal Playgun’s dam, Smart Letha, is Equistat #83 all-time leading dam and has paternal siblings with earnings in excess of over $9 million. Lethal Playgun was awarded his Performance ROM in 2005 and is a NDQHA Derby Money Earner. He is a proven producer of money earners in NCHA, NRHA, and NRCHA as well as AQHA point earners. He has also produced winners in barrel racing, roping, and open show events. He himself doesn’t have any earnings, but he did acquire some points in AQHA reining. The other names on “Lena’s” papers are just stacked with money earners!! Lena’s dam side is just as impressive and brings more of the older foundation bred athletes to her pedigree. What really attracted her to us on the bottom was Peponita. We currently have 3 granddaughters of Peponita and really love what they have done for our program, so to be able to add another was an opportunity we couldn’t pass up! Her 2022 foal by Walter O Rielly, Eel Drift JW, is still for sale.  

Sandstone’s sire is Walter O Rielly aka Radar.  He has become a great addition to our program, and this is his 11th foal crop for us. We were looking for a foundation Driftwood bred stallion to hopefully get some replacement fillies out of some of our better mares. Radar is a 90.234% foundation bred perlino stallion who goes to King P-234 ten times, to Driftwood four times with strong doses of Joe Reed, Three Bars and a little Doc Bar. Radar is a 16 hand horse with a huge stride and a gentle personality. He has excellent bone, athleticism and conformation. His lineage tells us that his offspring will have cow and will be capable of performing at any level.

So far we are pleased with her full brother Eel. We would expect Sandstone to mature out to be an athletic prospect for about anything. She is staying with us for now. If interested in her, please let us know.
