We were actively searching for Playgun daughters and granddaughters to add to our program and found GBL Farms and their wonderful selection! Lethas Lena aka Lena is a sweet well-built stocky bay mare. Her sire is Lethal Playgun owned by GBL Farms. He has a black type pedigree inclusive of multiple maternal money earning siblings (one being Thomas E. Hughes) having earned more than $812,000. Lethal Playgun was awarded his Performance ROM in 2005 and is a NDQHA Derby Money Earner. He is a proven producer of money earners in NCHA, NRHA, and NRCHA as well as AQHA point earners. He has also produced winners in barrel racing, roping, and open show events. The other names on “Lena’s” papers are just stacked with money earners!!  Playgun has life time earnings of $185,733. He was awarded the 1996 High Money Earning 4-Year-Old Cutting Horse, Augusta Futurity Open Champion and the Augusta Futurity Non-Pro Champion within 1 hour on the same night of competition. His sire record consists of the Equi-Stat #9 leading cutting sire, NRCHA leading sire and siring the earners of over $9,000,000. Freckles Playboy is the #2 all-time leading cutting sire/sire of earners of over $29 million. Miss Silver Pistol has $500,876 NCHA earnings was the NCHA Non-Pro Futurity Champion and is the dam of earners more than $375,000. Lethal Playgun’s dam, Smart Letha, has paternal siblings with earnings in excess of over $9 million. Smart Letha has a life time earnings of $77,431. Her dam record has produced over $812,000 and she is Equistat #83 all-time leading dam. Smart Little Lena was the NCHA Triple Crown Winner, has $743,175 in earnings and sire of earners of over $30,000,000. “Lena” is loaded with cow and a newer bloodline to our program.

Lena’s damside is just as impressive and brings wonderful older cowbred athletes to her pedigree. Gay Bar Lena has a performance record with lifetime earnings of $31,400, was a NCHA Super Stakes Finalist, Bronze & Silver Award and is a sire of AQHA point earners and has earnings in excess of $30,000. Gay Bar Lena is a multi-event maternal grandsire with earnings of over $195,000. He is a grandson of Gay Bar King who was at one time toted as one of the greatest stallions of all time.  We have long been fans of Gar Bar King and Gay Bar Lena and are excited to have that pedigree in our program now. What also really attracted Lethas Lena to us on the bottom was Peponita. We currently have 3 granddaughters of Peponita and really love what they have done for our program, so to be able to add another mare with that pedigree line was an opportunity we couldn’t pass up!

Lena is one of the most feminine and beautiful fillies.  She broke out extremely well and entered our broodmare band this year. We pasture exposed her to our stallion Whoop Up Whiskey and got a really sweet 2019 bay filly, Whiskey Up Zena JW. Whoop is homozygous black legged and we got the expected bay foal! We are extremely excited to see how it is to merge these two families of pedigrees.She had 2020 off. She had a bay stallion by Whoop for 2021, Whiskey Up Basil JW. We are switching gears with her and exposed her to our 93% foundation perlino stallion Walter O Rielly for a 2022 foal and she had a buckskin colt, Eel Drift JW. She was bred back to Radar and had a buckskin filly, Sandstone Drift JW this year.
