2021 Bay Mare
Return to Previous Page

Born 4/7/21 “Posie” is a bay filly with 2 hind socks and a blaze. This year our names are flower/tree/rangeland plants themed. It stuck when our first foal was born and we started calling her ‘Posie’ which means a ‘bunch of flowers’. So, we decided to go with it.

Posie is the first foal for her dam Easters Lil Surprise.  Easter is by Playgun son, Pegasus. Over the last few years we have been adding Playgun influence into our program, so this girl just seemed fitting for our program. Easter’s sire, Pegasus, is a NCHA earner of $54K + along with a futurity finalist, 5x AQHA World Show Qualifier and an AQHA ROM earner. Playgun has lifetime earnings of $185,733. He was awarded the 1996 High Money Earning 4-Year-Old Cutting Horse, Augusta Futurity Open Champion and the Augusta Futurity Non-Pro Champion within 1 hour on the same night of competition. His sire record consists of the Equi-Stat #9 leading cutting sire, NRCHA leading sire and siring the earners of over $9,000,000. Easter’s dam, Kodoriffic, is by Kodo, a son of CD Olena, who has earned over $100K in NCHA. CD Olena was known to many as one of the greats. In 2010 at time of his death he had sired earners of over $13.4 million and is an all-time leading broodmare sire. His daughters have produced over $4.65 million. He was ranked #3 among all-time leading living sires of cutting horse money earners. Easter’s maternal granddam, San Jose Hickory, was by the great Doc’s Hickory. According to Quarter Horse News, Doc's Hickory, who died in 2007, is the sire of 1,014 performers in 28 crops. He is an Equi-Stat Elite $21 Million Dollar Sire with a produce record topped by two outstanding show mares that went on to become esteemed producers: Miss Silver Pistol ($512,755) and Hicapoo ($447,855). Then just to throw in another pedigree loop, Miss Silver Pistol is the dam of Playgun. So Easter goes to Doc’s Hickory on her top side as well. Easter was started and riding well in Canada as a 2 year old before we purchased her and she did very well

Posie’s sire is Whoop Up Whiskey. ‘Whoop’ is a 2010 son of Paddys Irish Whiskey and out of a great John Scott mare, My Little Sugar Babe. The Paddys Irish Whiskey horses are making a name for themselves in everything from cutting to cowhorse events to roping horses and are very versatile.  A key difference between Whoop Up Whiskey and our other PIW son, TRR Paddys Texas Gin, is the dam pedigree. While both dams go back to Doc O Lena, Whoop’s goes to Doc O Dynamite who also stood at the John Scott Ranch. Doc O Dynamite was an Equi-State leading cutting sire from 1999-2005 who produced money earners and according to his performance record, his daughters have produced many money earning foals in AQHA, NCHA, NRHA and NRCHA. Doc O Dynamite has a pedigree that traces back to Three Bars giving a bit more stretch and speed to his offspring and shows up on the pedigree of many arena and speed event horses. Whoop Up Whiskey aka Whoop brings that little more height and length and speed to our program as compared to TRR Paddys Texas Gin and Top Gun Whiskey. He has excellent bone, athleticism and conformation. His lineage tells us that his offspring will have cow and will be capable of performing at any level. Whoop’s foals are breaking out really kind and level headed.

Posie should be a nice all-around prospect with a lot of style. She will be able to excel in the arena or on the ranch as well. We are seeing a lot of that style and grace in these Whoop babies.

“Don’t miss a chance to COWBOY UP with a WHISKEY UP foal!”

This filly is a keeper for us for now!
