Born 5-3-19 ‘Yao’ is a bay roan gelding with big white star and rear white pastern. We have chosen two movie themes this year to name our foals, one is Aladdin and the other is Mulan. Yao is one of the warriors in Mulan movie. He is the shortest of the trio and the bruiser of the group. He also is known to have a temper. This colt is not short and is the opposite of having a temper. His mama is super friendly and he is the first to find you in the pasture.
Yao is the first foal for his dam HQ Ima Fanchy Bee. His dam is a beautiful 2015 palomino roan mare with just a star that we bought in 2016 from Hockenson Quarter Horses in Iowa. We were specifically shopping for young replacement fillies with the Two Eyed Jack/Pitzer bloodlines to pair up with any of our Paddys Irish Whiskey sons as some of our older mares with those lines have already niched very well with our Paddys stallions. The Jackie Bee on Fanchy’s topside is a new line to our program and we are excited to see how that plays out. The rest of her pedigree with Two Eyed Jack, Mr Baron Red, Watch Joe Jack and Two Eyed Red Buck speaks for itself. An exciting thing for us is her bottom bottom goes back to Eternal Sun and Poco Pine and we have those lines in some of our other mares.
His sire is Whoop Up Whiskey. ‘Whoop’ is a 2010 son of Paddys Irish Whiskey and out of a great John Scott mare, My Little Sugar Babe. The Paddys Irish Whiskey horses are making a name for themselves in everything from cutting to cowhorse events to roping horses and are very versatile. A key difference between Whoop Up Whiskey and our other PIW son, TRR Paddys Texas Gin, is the dam pedigree. While both dams go back to Doc O Lena, Whoop’s goes to Doc O Dynamite who also stood at the John Scott Ranch. Doc O Dynamite was an Equi-State leading cutting sire from 1999-2005 who produced money earners and according to his performance record, his daughters have produced many money earning foals in AQHA, NCHA, NRHA and NRCHA. Doc O Dynamite has a pedigree that traces back to Three Bars giving a bit more stretch and speed to his offspring and shows up on the pedigree of many arena and speed event horses. Whoop Up Whiskey aka Whoop brings that little more height and length and speed to our program as compared to TRR Paddys Texas Gin. He has excellent bone, athleticism and conformation. His lineage tells us that his offspring will have cow and will be capable of performing at any level. Whoop’s foals are breaking out really kind and level headed.
This is a cross that we have waited almost 2 years to arrive and we are so excited! Yao should be a nice all-around prospect with a lot of style. He will be able to excel in the arena or on the ranch as well. We are seeing a lot of that style and grace in these Whoop babies.
