Thanks Amy & Faith!

Born 5-3-20. “Paducah” is a bay roan stallion with a star and a few white forehead hairs. He does not have any leg markings.  We have chosen two themes this year to name our foals, one is using names of Texas cities or towns and the other to continue with western names for only our Whoop foals. We felt Paducah was a fitting name since his maternal grandsire, TRR Paddys Texas Gin, was born and raised on the Tongue River Ranch at Paducah Texas.

His dam, Paddys Gin Nova JW, is a first-time mom. She is a big mare that had a tiny first time foal, just like her mother did years ago.  The big tall mares look the funniest with little foals. She is out of  one of our Mujer Tacky Jay daughters, Mujer Lily Dancer JW aka Lily is now deceased but was a 84% NFQHA and was purchased from Grantier Quarter Horses as a weanling. Mujer Tacky Jay, now deceased, made a name for himself producing using horses for the family, ranch, arena and youth. There are a lot of great horses in Lily’s pedigree from Jet Deck and Leo Tag just off her papers to other greats Three Bars, Poco Bueno and old time horses like Old Sorrel. Lily also fantastically goes back to King 9 times! We really believe in these well established horse families and in Lily’s mare line as she is so closely bred to many of our great saddle horses. That is why we kept several of her daughter, Paddys Gin Nova JW, being just one of them. Nova is by our Paddys Irish Whiskey son, TRR Paddys Texas Gin. He puts very thick and muscular foals on the ground with very nice muscle expression on them as well as a lot of athleticism and as they develop they have a lot of vigor. The oldest ones have been started under saddle by various buyers, are dams and sires themselves and we are hearing good things from all of them.  The Paddys Irish Whiskey horses are making a name for themselves in everything from cutting to cowhorse events to roping horses and are very versatile—Tanquery Gin, Doc O’Lena, Docs Starlight, Poco Tivio, Peppy San Badger. We are very excited about what this pairing produced.  Nova has grown into a thick stout mare with more leg than most "Tex" babies.  She is an example of what we attempted to create when breeding big, tall mares to him.

Paducah’s sire is Jacks Our Bartender a son of Bartenders Memory by Two ID Bartender and out of a granddaughter of Two Eyed Jack, Watch Miss Jo Jackie, born in 2003. Unfortunately, due to a stifle injury from being kicked by a mare, Jack was not able to stay sound enough to enter the show ring but was able to prove his athletic ability.  Since then several of his colts have ended up in the roping arena and continue to prove their athleticism and great minds.  By 2015 Hockensons realized that he was producing some really great roping horses and decided to see if they could keep his stifle sound enough to show and sure enough in a very short time, he quickly earned 5.5 AQHA Heading Points of his own proving that his offspring accomplishments were not by chance. He is a great horse to be around and out produces himself every time. Jack has 3 AQHA performing offspring. Many of his other foals have gone on to be great rodeo horses or rope horses competing and earning money in different associations.

Jack is a bigger horse with the moves of our Paddys sons and we bought him to really put on our Paddys Irish Whiskey granddaughters and daughters with 2019 being the first year to have some of those on the ground and we were definitely NOT disappointed.  Nova is another one of those this year and we think this little guy will be pretty cool.

Paducah is little now but he should have size and athletic ability to be able to perform in the arena or in pasture. As a bonus he is dark bay roan! We have high expectations for this colt to really be a standout.
