Born 4-24-22. “Octopus” is a palomino roan stud colt with forehead hairs and right hind ankle. This year our names are ocean plants and animals themed. This colt has long legs so Octopus is fitting.Through color testing he carries one copy of the roan gene.
His dam, Dry Biscuit Mujer JW aka ‘Biscuit’ was purchased from Grantier Quarter Horses as a weanling. She is multiple generations of Granter’s breeding program. On her damside, Kingsburys Buck was often referred to as Larry Grantier’s best mare at that time. Maternal grandsire is Mujer Tacky Jay who sired too many ranch, family, 4-H, performance horses to count in his breeding career. The Zans Banjoe lines are also cornerstone in their program. Last but not least is her sire Dry Pages who as a 1995 stallion has also sired more than his share of excellent using horses. We are very proud to have this Dry Pages daughter in our program. You can read more about Biscuit on her page. Her first foal was with Whoop Up Whiskey in 2014, Whoop Up Cowboy JW who is a bay roan ranching in the Sandhills of Nebraska. Her 2017, 2018 ,2019 and 2020 foals are all full siblings. 2017 Paddys Gin Sarabi JW is in Virginia and from the pictures & videos we have seen she is very nice and tall and well started under saddle; 2018 Paddys Gin Kenya JW went to WY; and 2019 foal, Paddys Gin Su JW, went to AZ with a family member. Her 2020 foal was a bay roan filly, Paddys Gin Llano JW, we are keeping and evaluating ourselves. Her 2021 foal which was a full brother to this one, Dry Ash Bartender JW, unfortunately had to be euthanized.
Octopus’s sire is Jacks Our Bartender a son of Bartenders Memory by Two ID Bartender and out of a granddaughter of Two Eyed Jack, Watch Miss Jo Jackie, born in 2003. Unfortunately, due to a stifle injury from being kicked by a mare, Jack was not able to stay sound enough to enter the show ring but was able to prove his athletic ability. Since then several of his colts have ended up in the roping arena and continue to prove their athleticism and great minds. By 2015 Hockenson’s realized that he was producing some really great roping horses and decided to see if they could keep his stifle sound enough to show and sure enough in a very short time, he quickly earned 5.5 AQHA Heading Points of his own proving that his offspring accomplishments were not by chance. He is a great horse to be around and out produces himself every time. Jack has 3 AQHA performing offspring. Many of his other foals have gone on to be great rodeo horses or rope horses competing and earning money in different associations.
Octopus will be an excellent head horse or ranch prospect and we are so thrilled with this cross. He will most likely size up in the 15-2 range or taller. This will be a BIG handsome dude!

If you are not already an AQHA member, you may get your own membership, or we will assess you an additional $55 one year membership fee in order to do the transfer for your new purchase.
