Born 5-3-23. Some years we do a fun theme for names. This year we decided to go with Geology and things that come from the ground. Many of these names are a little loose in thoughts regarding if they are elements, minerals, rocks, gemstones or colors etc. A ruby is a pinkish red to blood-red colored gemstone, a variety of the mineral corundum. Ruby is one of the most popular traditional jewelry gems and is very durable.
“Ruby” is a bay roan filly with a small star. We bought her mama, Miss Sweet Baron aka Jam as a wonderful addition to our program. In the past we have had some nice older Two Eyed Jack/Pitzer bred mares that have niched really well with our Paddys Irish Whiskey stallions. With those mares aging we spent the fall of 2016 researching and searching for replacement females that we felt would really step in and complement our program and this filly’s dam is totally bred to the hilt in Two Eyed Jack, Red Baron Bell and Pitzer bred lines. We love the Blondys Dude on the bottom of her pedigree as well. Jam’s sire is Two ID Sweet Jack who was born in 1994. He himself was an AQHA World Show Qualifier four times and has shown in calf roping, heading and heeling. He is an AQHA Performance Champion, has his ROM and has 330.5 points. Sweet Jack is a son of two-time world champion Two ID Bartender making Miss Sweet Baron a granddaughter of both him and Mr Baron Red. Her first foal, 2017 Sweet Watch Chic was on our ranch and had a great first foal but both have since been sold! Her 2019 foal, Rajah Reed JW, went with a repeat buyer to Texas. Her 2020 foal, Paddys Gin Dallas JW, was with a repeat buyer but since sold to a family who loves him. Her 2021 foal, Paddys Gin Moss JW, went with a repeat customer in NV. We kept her 2022 filly, Paddys Gin Surf JW. This mare produces very well for us.
Ruby’s sire is TRR Paddys Texas Gin. This is Tex’s 15th foal crop. He puts very thick and muscular foals on the ground with very nice muscle expression on them as well as a lot of athleticism and as they develop, they have a lot of vigor. The oldest ones have been started under saddle by various buyers and we are hearing good things from all of them. The Paddys Irish Whiskey horses are making a name for themselves in everything from cutting to cowhorse events to roping horses and are very versatile—Tanquery Gin, Doc O’Lena, Docs Starlight, Poco Tivio, Peppy San Badger.
We would expect Ruby to have athletic ability with a nice disposition to perform in or out of the arena. We would expect her to mature out to 14.2-14.3 hands.
Foal is eligible for the Iowa Quarter Horse Association Ranch Horse Futurity.
