2023 Bay Stallion
Return to Previous Page

Born 6-15-23. Some years we do a fun theme for names. This year we decided to go with Geology and things that come from the ground.  Many of these names are a little loose in thoughts regarding if they are elements, minerals, rocks, gemstones or colors etc. Pyrite is the most abundant sulfide mineral. Pyrite's metallic luster and pale brass-yellow hue give it a superficial resemblance to gold, hence the well-known nickname of fool's gold.

‘Pyrite’ is a bay stallion with a star and both rear white ankles. He is the first foal for his dam Miss Two ID Peponita, aka Salty who we raised out of our 92% NFQHA Mr Salty Peponita daughter, Peponita Roan Bar JW aka Strawberry. We also raised Strawberry out of one of our founding mares, Fancy Roan Belle. Salty has very deep maternal roots in our program.  Salty’s sire is Two ID Sweet Buck owned by Tien Quarter Horses. Tien Quarter Horses says, “Heff is a nice muscled stallion that has a trim neck and nice head. This guy is gentle & good minded.’Heff’ is an asset to our program with his color, mind and athletic ability passing onto his colts. This junior stallion has been fun to show in the ranch horse versatility, ranch riding, heading, heeling, performance halter & cowhorse. Heff is a 2016 AQHA World Show Qualifier in Junior Heeling & Junior Ranch Riding. He is also a qualifier of the 2016 AQHA Zoetis Versatility Ranch Horse World Championship. He has AQHA points in heading, heeling, ranch riding along with his AQHA performance ROM.” This is Salty’s first foal and we couldn’t be happier!

Pyrite’s sire is Whoop Up Whiskey . ‘Whoop’ is a 2010 son of Paddys Irish Whiskey and out of a great John Scott mare, My Little Sugar Babe. This is his 10th foal crop. The Paddys Irish Whiskey horses are making a name for themselves in everything from cutting to cowhorse events to roping horses and are very versatile.  A key difference between Whoop Up Whiskey and our other PIW sons is the dam pedigree. Whoop’s dam goes to Doc O Dynamite who also stood at the John Scott Ranch. Doc O Dynamite was an Equi-State leading cutting sire from 1999-2005 who produced money earners and according to his performance record, his daughters have produced many money earning foals in AQHA, NCHA, NRHA and NRCHA. Doc O Dynamite has a pedigree that traces back to Three Bars giving a bit more stretch and speed to his offspring and shows up on the pedigree of many arena and speed event horses. Whoop Up Whiskey aka Whoop brings that little more height and length and speed to our program as. He has excellent bone, athleticism and conformation. His lineage tells us that his offspring will have cow and will be capable of performing at any level. Whoop’s foals are breaking out really kind and level headed.

Pyrite should be a nice all-around prospect with a lot of style. He will be able to excel in the arena or on the ranch as well. We are seeing a lot of that style and grace in these Whoop babies.

“Don’t miss a chance to COWBOY UP with a WHISKEY UP foal!”
