Born 5-25-17. Some years we do theme names and this year we named several foals with Lion King movie names. We ran out of good female names AND this baby was stolen by two other mares and the real mama, baby and myself got a one hour ‘cardio’ workout at 6 am for an hour getting everything straightened out and this little one and her mama back to the barn for peace and quiet. Hence the name ‘Cardio’
‘Cardio’ is a very nice sized sorrel filly with a nice wide and proportional blaze and no other white. Her dam is Bueno Macy Reed JW, a 2010 mare we raised. ‘Macy’ is a mare with a super nice cowhorse pedigree. Her sire is JK Jay Reed, a 96% foundation bred stallion with Poco Pine, Continental King, Joe Reed II and Whiskey Bert all on his papers. Her dam, Blondy Bueno, is cutting bred with Doc Bar, Bueno Chex, Peppy San and Tianna Leo x Leo on her papers. Since her dam is a palomino, Macy is carrying the cream gene making her a smoky black which she can pass on 50% of the time.
Cardio’s sire is TRR Paddys Texas Gin aka Tex. This is Tex’s ninth foal crop. He puts very thick and muscular foals on the ground with very nice muscle expression on them as well as a lot of athleticism and as they develop they have a lot of vigor. The oldest ones have been started under saddle by various buyers and we are hearing good things from all of them. The Paddys Irish Whiskey horses are making a name for themselves in everything from cutting to cowhorse events to roping horses and are very versatile—Tanquery Gin, Doc O’Lena, Docs Starlight, Poco Tivio, Peppy San Badger. Cardio’s full siblings is 2014 Paddys Gin Timber JW who is a dark buckskin and is really turning out nicely; and 2016 Paddys Gin Falcon JW who is another dark buckskin and is now in Missouri. Cardio will have plenty of ‘cow’ and should be an all-around athlete. She is a nice sized foal and we are excited to see what she can do. Cardio should have all the skills to go any direction from arena to pasture.
UPDATE 8-11-18. Take a really good look at this filly! Cardio has a ton of shape and athletic ability. She is stout, well made, weaned and ready to go. Additional pictures and short video maybe requested. Cardio is headed to Nebraska with our former employee Heather and we could not be happier for them to pair up. Heather was here all last summer and fall as Cardio was born and halter broke. We wish them the best.
