Born 9-6-17. My Sandra Drift JW is a 91% NFQHA (F0039290) buckskin filly with an irregular star, strip and wide snip. She has a left rear pastern and a right rear partial pastern. As you can see by her birthday, she is the latest foal we have ever had born here. Her mama had an injury the summer before and had to come home to be doctored and then we took her back out to the stud. We had hoped that she was bred prior but obviously not. Well regardless this filly is awesome. We haven’t all quite decided if we are calling her ‘Sandy’ or ‘Sandra D’. This is her dam’s, My Kittys Melody JW, second foal and we are very pleased. She is one of our own JK Jay Reed aka Pine Cone daughters. Melody is 91% NFQHA. Her pedigree is solid with good dispositions all around and Melody has had a friendly disposition since birth. Melody has a very feminine face, gorgeous neck, kind eye, good bone, nice hip and as a plus, her mane ALL goes to the right giving her a very clean look. She was started under saddle when she was three and she did very well. She started her ranch work career in 2013 and showed the right amount of ‘cow’ to enter the broodmare bunch.
Walter O Rielly aka Radar, has become a great addition to our program and this is his fifth foal crop for us. We were looking for a foundation Driftwood bred stallion to hopefully get some replacement fillies out of some of our better mares. Radar is a 90.234% foundation bred perlino stallion who goes to King P-234 ten times, to Driftwood four times with strong doses of Joe Reed, Three Bars and a little Doc Bar. Radar is a 16 hand horse with a huge stride and a gentle personality. He has excellent bone, athleticism and conformation. His lineage tells us that his offspring will have cow and will be capable of performing at any level. We fully expect this to be another top filly if she develops to her genetic potential. Melody and Radar are disposition plus horses. Our goal is to retain filly’s from Radar and some of our mares to cross back on our Paddys Irish Whiskey stallions. This filly is pretty special because she is also a granddaughter of our senior stallion, JK Jay Reed. We are extremely excited to watch Sandra grow.
Sandra herself is 91% NFQHA eligible is bred ‘cow’ and ‘ranch’ top to bottom. Just imagine what all this will do! She will be able to go any direction from top performance to a top all-around ranch horse. We’d also like to point out that she is almost perfect as a compact, stout foal. She was born buckskin and is buckskin. It just happened that her baby fuzz and winter hair all happened at the same time and as of these recent pictures she is pretty dark and funky colored. But if you look around her eyes, muzzle and flanks you can see the tawny color that we think she will shed out to.
Unfortunatley Sandy is no longer with us.
