Born 5-15-20. “Matador” is a bay roan stallion with a star, strip and both rear ankles have white pasterns. We have chosen two themes this year to name our foals, one is using names of Texas cities or towns and the other to continue with western names for only our Whoop foals.
Matador’s dam is Firebird Drift JW a 2016 palomino mare we raised. She is the only daughter we managed to keep from Miss Jacks Wrangler. Firebird is one of our Walter O Rielly daughters. This is Firebird’s first foal and she did great! Miss Jacks Wrangler aka Roxanne offered Two Eyed Jack, Rocket Wrangler, Bugs Alive in 75 and Triple Jill by Triple Chick . ‘Roxanne’ was one of our best producers. She raised a big strong colt and did an excellent job as a mother raising 8 fantastic foals for us! Firebird’s sire is Walter O Rielly. Radar is a 90.234% foundation bred perlino stallion who goes to King P-234 ten times, to Driftwood four times with strong doses of Joe Reed, Three Bars and a little Doc Bar. Radar is a 16 hand horse with a huge stride and a gentle personality. Firebird was everything we wanted from this cross and are extremely excited to add her back into our breeding program.
Matador’s sire is Jacks Our Bartender a son of Bartenders Memory by Two ID Bartender and out of a granddaughter of Two Eyed Jack, Watch Miss Jo Jackie, born in 2003. Unfortunately, due to a stifle injury from being kicked by a mare, Jack was not able to stay sound enough to enter the show ring but was able to prove his athletic ability. Since then several of his colts have ended up in the roping arena and continue to prove their athleticism and great minds. By 2015 Hockenson’s realized that he was producing some really great roping horses and decided to see if they could keep his stifle sound enough to show and sure enough in a very short time, he quickly earned 5.5 AQHA Heading Points of his own proving that his offspring accomplishments were not by chance. He is a great horse to be around and out produces himself every time. Jack has 3 AQHA performing offspring. Many of his other foals have gone on to be great rodeo horses or rope horses competing and earning money in different associations.
Matador should have the size and has the pedigree to make a nice rope horse prospect. His bottom side should add a dose of speed too. We fully expect this colt to make someone an awesome horse.
