2004 Bay Roan Mare
Return to Previous Page

“Soda Pop” is a beautiful bay roan mare showing a lot of roan.  She has Doc Bar on her papers which is awesome for such a young mare.  She is one of four Docs Flying Bar granddaughters that we have.  He stood at Texas A&M University as part of their equine breeding program.  He gives her Jet Smooth and Mr San Peppy just off her papers topside.  We also own this mare’s mother, Fancy Roan Belle, who has produced only roan foals and her 2008 maternal sister, Peponita Roan Bar JW.  Let’s look at her bottom deep in Reeves breeding out of South Dakota—Roan Bar Dandy, Roan Bar, Fancy Roan Bar, Bell Boy Bar.  Weavers Quarter Horses in Montana have had several of these Cake And Cream mares that have done well for their program.

Soda is bred deep in ranch, arena and cutting bloodlines and she is a cowhorse.  She was started at three, had another 14 days with a trainer in February 2008 and has been used on the ranch since.  She has a smooth, fast, running walk keeping up with the other horses trotting.  She can go all day, covering large areas and just doesn’t get wore out.  She’s not super fast on the straightaway, but makes up for it with her cutting ability, agility, can-do attitude, endurance and that running walk.  She knows how to watch cattle and does it well.  We have no doubt that she will enter the broodmare bunch at some point in the future but for now she’s earning a living as one of the ranch saddle horses.  Soda had a nice solid filly, Paddys Gin Fanta JW, by TRR Paddys Texas Gin aka Tex on 2-21-11.  Soda was an awesome mom and we are VERY happy with the quality of the filly. Fanta is now three and has been in reining training for the past year at Schlegel Horse Training.  She has a presence about her and moves beautifully.  She will be shown summer 2014 as a three year old.  We are excited for Fantas's future!

Soda went back being a ranch horse once Fanta was weaned and she was not bred for 2012 or 2013. She was bred to Whoop Up Whiskey for 2014 and had a bay roan stallion, Whiskey Up Crush JW, who went to California. Soda will continue being a ranch horse for the next few years. Keep watch for when we decided to expose her again! We have some exciting news about Soda, we had an oppurtunity to A.I. her to Paddys Irish Whiskey himself in 2016! Unfortunatley Soda aborted her 2017 Paddys Irish Whiskey foal. We ranched on Soda for a few years then exposed her to Top Gun Whiskey for a 2020 foal, but unfortunately she came up open, so we went back to ranching on her.
