Born 5-1-2016. Some years we do a fun theme for names. This year we decided to go with American Made Muscle Cars from the 50s, 60s and 70s. We have had some fun researching them. This buckskin filly was named after the 1978-1987 GMC Caballero.
‘Caballero’ is a 87% NFQHA (F0039280) buckskin filly with left front and left rear white pasterns. This is the first foal for this pairing. Caballero’s dam, Mujer Dewey Dial JW aka Dewey, is a beautiful bay mare that is 83% NFQHA. This is her fourth foal. Dewey was purchased from Grantier Quarter Horses because her mare line is very close to several of our VERY PROVEN ranch horses. We have her older full sister, Mujer Lucy Skip JW, already in the broodmare band and doing a very nice job for us. Mujer Tacky Jay, now deceased, made a name for himself producing using horses for the family, ranch, arena and youth. We really believe in these horse families.
Walter O Rielly aka Radar, is new to our program and this is his fourth foal crop for us. We were looking for a foundation Driftwood bred stallion to hopefully get some replacement fillies out of some of our better mares. Radar is a 90.234% foundation bred perlino stallion who goes to King P-234 ten times, to Driftwood four times with strong doses of Joe Reed, Three Bars and a little Doc Bar. Radar is a 16 hand horse with a huge stride and a gentle personality. Caballero is the first foal for this pairing, but we are excited to see what she becomes. Both dam and sire are very laid back, so Caballero should be as well and she is 87% NFQHA eligible. Caballero is N/N on the Disease 5 Panel Testing as per her parents tests. Caballero suffered a non-laming injury this summer that has required a lot of care and we decided that we like working with her so much that we plan to keep her. She has grown into a beautiful filly and is on the path to enter our broodmare band next spring. We have exposed Caballero to Whoop Up Whiskey for her first foal and she had a bay filly, Whiskey Up Crocus JW and will have the next year off. She had a bay filly, Whiskey Up Squid JW in 2022. Unfortunatley she came up open for 2023. She was put back with Whoop and had a buckskin filly, Whiskey Up Eris JW. She is exposed back to Whoop for 2025.
