Born 5-7-2016. Some years we do a fun theme for names. This year we decided to go with American Made Muscle Cars from the 50s, 60s and 70s. We have had some fun researching them. This stud colt is named after the 1968-1974 Ford Torino GT, Cobra 428 & Talladega.
‘Torino’ is a nice bay stud colt with a large star, white hairs on strip, large snip, left front white pastern, left and right rear white pasterns. Mama, Tiff, is one of our top mares and comes through with friendly top babies every year. They all have broken out well and that makes us extra excited about this little guy. Tornio’s dam, Mujer Lady Dial JW aka Tiff, is one of our Mujer Tacky Jay daughters. She is 81% NFQHA and was purchased from Grantier Quarter Horses because her mare line is very close to several of our VERY PROVEN ranch horses. Mujer Tacky Jay, now deceased, made a name for himself producing using horses for the family, ranch, arena and youth. We really believe in these horse families. We really like Tiff’s stout build and kind personality. Her foals should be a very friendly and well-put-together with this mare as their mama. Her 2010 buckskin filly, Paddys Gin Dakota JW and 2011 bay colt, Paddys Gin Boba JW have stayed in ND. Both have broken out well and are currently being used on ranches. Her 2012 palomino filly, Paddys Gin Sage JW is in TX and shows tremendous potential in ranch versatility. Her 2013 bay filly, Paddys Gin Boogie JW, headed to North Carolina with a repeat buyer and will not disappoint. Her 2014 foal, Whiskey Up Stitch JW, was the first pairing from this cross and headed to California and has started nicely and her 2015 foal, Whiskey Up Amigo JW, is now in Nevada as a roping prospect.
This is her third Whoop Up Whiskey foal. ‘Whoop’ is a 2010 son of Paddys Irish Whiskey and out of a great John Scott mare, My Little Sugar Babe. The Paddys Irish Whiskey horses are making a name for themselves in everything from cutting to cowhorse events to roping horses and are very versatile. A key difference between Whoop Up Whiskey and our other PIW son, TRR Paddys Texas Gin, is the dam pedigree. While both dams go back to Doc O Lena, Whoop’s goes to Doc O Dynamite who also stood at the John Scott Ranch. Doc O Dynamite was an Equi-State leading cutting sire from 1999-2005 who produced money earners and according to his performance record, his daughters have produced many money earning foals in AQHA, NCHA, NRHA and NRCHA. Doc O Dynamite has a pedigree that traces back to Three Bars giving a bit more stretch and speed to his offspring and shows up on the pedigree of many arena and speed event horses. Whoop Up Whiskey aka Whoop brings that little more height and length and speed to our program as compared to TRR Paddys Texas Gin. He has excellent bone, athleticism and conformation. His lineage tells us that his offspring will have cow and will be capable of performing at any level. We are excited about this pairing and can’t wait to see how Tornio matures and develops. He will have all the right moves to go any direction in the cowhorse world from cutting, reining, versatility, reined cowhorse, rodeo performance, or just all around ranch horse. We are seeing a lot of style and grace in these Whoop babies. He will be for sale.
UPDATE 9-24-16. Torino is a fancy, stylish colt. He is much like his two older full brothers. We are liking this cross so much! The Whoop foals are all very trainable and light faced and easy to move around. This colt is heading to Colorado to ranch and have some fun.
