Born 5-5-23. Some years we do a fun theme for names. This year we decided to go with Geology and things that come from the ground. Many of these names are a little loose in thoughts regarding if they are elements, minerals, rocks, gemstones or colors etc. This filly is named Platinum after a rare metal that is dense and stable. Hopefully she will be a platinum blond.
'Platinum' has a star on her face. We are waiting until we can further determine if she has any leg markings. Platinum’s dam Ting Bartender JW is out of Paddys Gin Dakota JW. She was one of our very first TRR Paddy Texas Gin fillies out of Mujer Lady Dial JW. We love when Tex’s kiddos make their way into our breeding program. Ting would be his granddaughter. We have seen through time when Paddys Irish Whiskey is on the maternal side, those mares make some good mamas so we are excited to add another one in our program. Ting’s sire, Jacks Our Bartender, is a son of Bartenders Memory by Two ID Bartender and out of a granddaughter of Two Eyed Jack, Watch Miss Jo Jackie. Ting is a buckskin roan. This means she can pass along the roan gene 50% of the time (along with the cream gene). This is her first foal and we are excited to watch Platinum unfold!
Platinum’s sire is Goldun Topsail aka “Topper” who is a 90% NFQHA (F0039287) dun stallion. He is our newest stallion and this is his 3rd foal crop. We acquired Topper as part of a package deal with his dam, Whizzin Lena. As a grandson of Topsail Whiz and a son of Jaz Poco Goldun Blue we could not be happier. His dam, Whizzin Lena aka Whiz is an older mare we purchased from Ryan Fleetwod at Fleetwood Farms. Bred at Bob Loomis Quarter Horses in Oklahoma, Whiz is a very well-bred reining mare. Sired by Topsail Whiz, the 1st and only NRHA 12 million dollar sire, and out of a mare by Justa Doc Olena by Doc O Lena, this mare was third in the South Country Derby Non-Pro division in 2001 and won the Non-Pro Reining Futurity at the Canadian Supreme in Red Deer, Alberta. Whiz’s earnings include NRHA $3,754. She also has four performing foals. Her sire Topsail Whiz is in the Hall of Fame, a NRHA money earner, NRHA #1 all time leading sire, AQHA World Show Qualifier, AQHA Leading Sire and ROM Performance. Topper’s sire is Jaz Poco Goldun Blue who is the most photographed or well-known grulla horse. He is 95% foundation and 27% Poco Bueno. With all the titles to his name, and to his progeny, there is no doubt that this is a horse who truly has it all - conformation, disposition, trainability, talent - all wrapped up in that great grulla color!“ as stated by Ryan Fleetwood of Feetwood Farms about Jaz Poco Goldun Blue. He is a NRHA money earner and a World Champion Sire. He started very well under saddle as a two year old.
Platinum will be a beautiful filly with unique coloring and she sure is a cutie. It is always fun to see the first time babies and what they will be. We expect her to be able to do just about anything. Unfortunatley Platinum broke her leg and had to be euthanized. She was a very very nice filly.
