Born 5-16-25. Some years we do a fun theme for names. This year we have chosen movie themes for our different stallions. Top Gun Whiskey foals will be named after the Top Gun Call Signs from the original 1986 movie. Next year we will do similar call signs from the 2022 movie. Our other stallions will have Lord Of The Rings and Hobbit themed names. This filly is named Eowyn. Eowyn was a fictional character in Lord Of The Rings. Éowyn was a member of the House of Eorl and the niece of King Théoden of Rohan. She was renowned for slaying the Witch-king of Angmar. She was the daughter of Théodwyn, Théoden's sister, and Éomund of Eastfold; her brother was Éomer.
‘Eowyn’ is a dunalino filly with a star and rear left white pastern. Her dam is a 91% NFQHA mare named Juniper Drift JW. We raised Juniper out of Bullets Top Lady, aka Kevin” a 90% NFQHA sorrel mare we purchased from our friend and daughter’s college professor, Kevin Sedivec. That is why we call her Kevin. She was a daughter of Rawhides Slvr Bullet, AQHA all-time open reining point earner, 351 Open performance points, 27.5 halter points, 18 AQHA Open all-around COM’s and the NRHA Morrison trophy winner. His combined offspring have earnings of over $80,000 in roping, reining, team penning, sorting, ranch, and barrels. Kevin had Topsail Cody on her bottom side of papers along with Leo and Orphan Drift once off her papers. Cow Lady Drift was known as Orphan Drift’s greatest daughter. She was the earner of 44 AQHA points, was 6th at the AQHA World Show in Senior Reining, and 5th at the AQHA World Show in Senior Working Cow Horse. However, her production as a broodmare was the most impressive. Cow Lady Drift produced fourteen foals. Nine of them were AQHA point earners and four were AQHA Open Champions. Her offspring had a total of 533.5 AQHA points and that is a very notable record. Bullets Top Lady is now deceased. We are excited to have kept a daughter of hers. Juniper’s sire was Walter O Rielly aka Radar. He became a great addition to our program, and had 12 foal crops for us. Due to some health issues, Radar was put down spring of 2024 at the age of 24. We have kept back several of his fillies for breeding, but also have kept back fillies and geldings to use as our own personal saddle horses. Radar was a fantastic asset to our program. He brought older foundation lines to cross back with our Paddy's get. Radar threw BIG foals that could cover alot ground with amazing laid back dispositions. Most of his offspring have gone on to be ranch horses, with a few rope and barrel prospects too. This is Juniper’s first foal.
Eowyn’s sire is Goldun Topsail aka “Topper” who is a 90% NFQHA (F0039287) dun stallion. This is his 5th foal crop. We acquired Topper as part of a package deal with his dam, Whizzin Lena. As a grandson of Topsail Whiz and a son of Jaz Poco Goldun Blue we could not be happier. His dam, Whizzin Lena aka Whiz is an older mare we purchased from Ryan Fleetwod at Fleetwood Farms. Bred at Bob Loomis Quarter Horses in Oklahoma, Whiz is a very well-bred reining mare. Sired by Topsail Whiz, the 1st and only NRHA 12 million dollar sire, and out of a mare by Justa Doc Olena by Doc O Lena, this mare was third in the South Country Derby Non-Pro division in 2001 and won the Non-Pro Reining Futurity at the Canadian Supreme in Red Deer, Alberta. Whiz’s earnings include NRHA $3,754. She also has four performing foals. Her sire Topsail Whiz is in the Hall of Fame, a NRHA money earner, NRHA #1 all time leading sire, AQHA World Show Qualifier, AQHA Leading Sire and ROM Performance. Topper’s sire is Jaz Poco Goldun Blue who is the most photographed or well-known grulla horse. He is 95% foundation and 27% Poco Bueno. With all the titles to his name, and to his progeny, there is no doubt that this is a horse who truly has it all - conformation, disposition, trainability, talent - all wrapped up in that great grulla color!“ as stated by previous owner Ryan Smith of Fleetwood Farms about Jaz Poco Goldun Blue. He was sold to Blue Valley Quarter Horses in NE and is now deceased. Blue was a NRHA money earner and earner of AQHA Open Performance Register Of Merritt. He had 22 pts in Junior & Senior Reining. He also competed in a few AQHA Working Cow Horse shows. His progeny has reported earnings of $10,724 as of 11/1/2024 in barrels, reining and reined cow horse. He also produced foals who have earned AQHA pts in a multitude of events from reining, cutting, VRH ranch riding, barrels, heading heeling and tie down roping, barrel racing, hunt seat equitation, hunter under saddle, pole bending, halter. This is a great testament to how versatile his offspring are.Topper started very well under saddle as a two year old. We were looking to add a higher foundation stallion to our herd since our other stallions were getting up in age. We are excited about Topper’s strong reining pedigree as well. He is bred to be a reining horse. His dam and sire are very proven in the reining world and he has several half siblings on both sides that are money earners in reining, reined cowhorse, cutting or barrels that are reported. We decided to not show Topper, but let him ride the "coat tails" of his dam, sire and siblings' achievements.
Eowyn is 91% NFQHA eligible. If you are drawn to old foundation breeding, this foal has got it! This is the first baby for Juniper. Juniper is a fantastic mama. We are always curious and excited to see how first time experiments grow out. Topper’s foals are quite the lookers and so far, are showing signs of being very trainable and agreeable. Eowyn is pretty, sweet and should make a nice project for anyone and we have decided to retain her for now.
