Born 7-7-26.  Some years we do a fun theme for names. This year for Top Gun Whiskey we are continuing with Top Gun Call Signs from the original 1986 movie and the 2022 movie. Our other stallions will have the names of Rock Bands from the 70s, 80s and 90s. Foreigner is a British–American rock band formed in 1976, known for hits like "Cold as Ice," "Hot Blooded," and "Juke Box Hero," with over 80 million records sold worldwide.

‘Foreigner’ is a red dun stallion with no white on his face. He has minimal white pastern and partial pastern on left front and rear. His dam, Sapa Mia Reed JW, is a mare we raised out of Little Sapa and JK Jay Reed. Take a good look at the speed pedigree on Mia’s bottom side. According to Circle Dot Horses, Mia Cash Too was a gentle, AAA Stakes Placed Winner with a nice disposition who ran the 3rd fastest qualifying time in the All-American Derby and sired foals that went on the be race horses, barrel horses and arena even horses and had plenty of cow.  Little Sapa leaves Dash For Cash on Mia’s papers and also gives her Leroy Brown, Three Bars and Jet Deck through both Easy Jet and Jet Smooth.  Mia’s sire is a 96% foundation bred stallion with Poco Pine, Continental King by King P-234, Joe Reed II and Whiskey Bert all on his papers.  Her first foal with Whoop Up Whiskey, Whiskey Up Mesa JW, is now in Montana and her buyer came back to purchase a second horse in 2019 and now have several horses from our program. Her 2017 foal, Sarafina Drift JW was a smokey black that we kept for ourselves by Walter O Rielly. We are ranching on Sarafina and now call her Sci-Fi. Mia’s 2018 foal was also by Walter O Rielly, Australia Drift JW and is in Nevada. We hear wonderful things about her. Her 2020 foal, Mia Holly Gunpowder is by PG Gunpowder and we are keeping her as a replacement for now. Her 2021 foal, Mia Willow Drift JW, went to MT with the same repeat buyers that got Mesa. Her 2022 foal, Marlin Drift JW, stayed here in Hebron ND and they are loving him. Her 2023 foal, Cobalt Drift JW, is staying here with us on the ranch as a saddle horse prospect. Her 2024 smoky black filly, Mia Eclipse Drift JW, also stayed with us on the ranch.

Foreigner’s sire is Goldun Topsail aka “Topper” who is a 90% NFQHA (F0039287) dun stallion. This is his 6th foal crop. We acquired Topper as part of a package deal with his dam, Whizzin Lena. As a grandson of Topsail Whiz and a son of Jaz Poco Goldun Blue we could not be happier. His dam, Whizzin Lena aka Whiz is an older mare we purchased from Ryan Fleetwod at Fleetwood Farms. Bred at Bob Loomis Quarter Horses in Oklahoma, Whiz is a very well-bred reining mare.  Sired by Topsail Whiz, the 1st and only NRHA 12 million dollar sire, and out of a mare by Justa Doc Olena by Doc O Lena, this mare was third in the South Country Derby Non-Pro division in 2001 and won the Non-Pro Reining Futurity at the Canadian Supreme in Red Deer, Alberta. Whiz’s earnings include NRHA $3,754. She also has four performing foals. Her sire Topsail Whiz is in the Hall of Fame, a NRHA money earner, NRHA #1 all time leading sire, AQHA World Show Qualifier, AQHA Leading Sire and  ROM Performance. Topper’s sire is Jaz Poco Goldun Blue who is the most photographed or well-known grulla horse. He is 95% foundation and 27% Poco Bueno. With all the titles to his name, and to his progeny, there is no doubt that this is a horse who truly has it all - conformation, disposition, trainability, talent - all wrapped up in that great grulla color!“ as stated by previous owner Ryan Smith of Fleetwood Farms about Jaz Poco Goldun Blue. He was sold to Blue Valley Quarter Horses in NE and is now deceased. Blue was a NRHA money earner and earner of AQHA Open Performance Register Of Merritt. He had 22 pts in Junior & Senior Reining. He also competed in a few AQHA Working Cow Horse shows. His progeny has reported earnings of $10,724 as of 11/1/2024 in barrels, reining and reined cow horse. He also produced foals who have earned AQHA pts in a multitude of events from reining, cutting, VRH ranch riding, barrels, heading heeling and tie down roping, barrel racing, hunt seat equitation, hunter under saddle, pole bending, halter. This is a great testament to how versatile his offspring are. Topper started very well under saddle as a two year old. We were looking to add a higher foundation stallion to our herd since our other stallions were getting up in age. We are excited about Topper’s strong reining pedigree as well. He is bred to be a reining horse. His dam and sire are very proven in the reining world and he has several half siblings on both sides that are money earners in reining, reined cowhorse, cutting or barrels that are reported. We decided to not show Topper, but let him ride the "coat tails" of his dam, sire and siblings' achievements.

Foreigner is a really nice stallion and the first from this cross. He is very different from Mia’s foals by Radar, and yet very similar.  We expect this to be a big-time horse.  If he rides and ranches like his maternal siblings he will be pretty awesome. Don’t let his birthday hold you back.  By the time he is three it won’t matter. He will have a 50/50 chance of GBED and is NN on all the rest.
