Born 4-24-23. Some years we do a fun theme for names. This year we decided to go with Geology and things that come from the ground. Many of these names are a little loose in thoughts regarding if they are elements, minerals, rocks, gemstones or colors etc. This stud colt is named Bedrock after a layer of ground that is found under other loose material.
‘Bedrock’ is a palomino stallion with a star, thin strip, snip and no white on his legs. His dam is My Kittys Belle JW is 91% NFQHA. She is one of our proven saddle horses and we have been excited to get foals from her! Belle was shown by our daughter in Colt to Maturity 4-H classes as a yearling to 5 year old. Belle is a very kind mare and an energetic riding horse. She’s very quick, sure footed and a natural lead changer both in the arena and out in the hills. Whether you line her out to ride the pasture or put her in a circle in the arena, she stays where you put her until you are ready to stop and then ‘stop’ she does. She has spent most of her life behind cattle here at the ranch. We have a full sister to Belle, 2009 My Kittys Melody JW, who is also in our broodmare bunch and has produced REALLY nice foals for us. So nice we kept 3 out of her 4 for ourselves. Belle’s mother, My Little Kitty, was owned by Barbra Kennedy Johnson and was given to Ella. Belle’s sire was our late 96% NFQHA stallion, JK Jay Reed, who was a consistent producer. Belle’s 2020 filly, Top Gun Empire JW was an excellent example of a JK Jay Reed daughter bred back to one of our Paddys Irish Whiskey sons. Belle’s 2021 foal, My Bluestem Drift JW, is a full brother to Bedrock that we have kept for ourselves as a stallion prospect. He is currently in training. So far both of Belle’s foals we have kept for ourselves. That is how much we believe in this mare and her abilities on the ranch.
Bedrock’s sire is Walter O Rielly aka Radar. He has become a great addition to our program, and this is his 10th foal crop for us. We were looking for a foundation Driftwood bred stallion to hopefully get some replacement fillies out of some of our better mares. Radar is a 90.234% foundation bred perlino stallion who goes to King P-234 ten times, to Driftwood four times with strong doses of Joe Reed, Three Bars and a little Doc Bar. Radar is a 16 hand horse with a huge stride and a gentle personality. He has excellent bone, athleticism and conformation. His lineage tells us that his offspring will have cow and will be capable of performing at any level.
Bedrock is a very nice foundation bred foal. All of Radar’s foals have wonderful dispositions and are BIG horses that can cover some ground out in the open. Bedrock will be 91% NFQHA and eligible to register. We fully expect him to mature into a bigger horse with a kind disposition. His 2 year old brother is close to 16 hands now already. At this time he will be for sale.
