2019 Bay Roan Mare
Return to Previous Page

Born 5/5/19 ‘Cri Kee’ is a bay roan filly with rear white pasterns on both feet. We have chosen two movie themes this year to name our foals, one is Aladdin and the other is Mulan. Cri Kee is a supposedly lucky cricket belonging to Fa Mulan that serves as Mushu's harried sidekick.

We cannot express how excited we are for this filly to join us here on the ranch!  Her mama, Charjody, is a gorgeous 84% NFQHA double bred Two Eyed Jack mare with him still on her papers. She also goes back to Babe Cody by Bill Cody. We have already retained her 2008 daughter, Peponita Stareyed JW aka Bubbles, for our program. Bubbles is one of the ranch’s main saddle horses who has produced two foals for us. Bubbles has such an awesome disposition and a lot of cow to her. In between 2008 and 2015 Charjody has produced some fantastic foals with whatever stallion we put her with and we have one buyer who has 4 of her offspring. Charjody’s other foals for us have been 2010, Charmander Reed JW, 2011, Charizard Reed JW, and 2014 Char B Reed JW; all full brothers and 2012 maternal sister, Paddys Gin Tookie JW, who are all four in North Carolina with the same buyer. Charjody’s 2013 stud colt, Paddys Gin Jig JW, is in Utah as an all-around ranch horse prospect and now a sire himself. Her 2015 filly, Cider Drift JW, is in Arizona and 2016 stud colt, Whiskey Up Boss JW, is in Virginia. Her 2017 stud colt is  Whiskey Up Zazu JW and now in Missouri. Her 2018 foal, Bermuda Bartender JW is now with the original family that we bought Charjody from. We purchased her from dad/grandpa Vance and Bermuda is now with granddaughter Kenleigh and her dad Kent. We are very grateful to the Graham Family and excited for his performance future.

This is Charjody’s second foal with Jacks Our Bartender.  Jacks Our Bartender is a son of Bartenders Memory by Two ID Bartender and out of a granddaughter of Two Eyed Jack, Watch Miss Jo Jackie, born in 2003. Unfortunately, due to a stifle injury from being kicked by a mare, Jack was not able to stay sound enough to enter the show ring, but was able to prove his athletic ability.  Since then several of his colts have ended up in the roping arena and continue to prove their athleticism and great minds.  By 2015 Hockenson’s realized that he was producing some really great roping horses and decided to see if they could keep his stifle sound enough to show and sure enough in a very short time he quickly earned 5.5 AQHA Heading Points of his own proving that his offspring accomplishments were not by chance. He is a great horse to be around and out produces himself every time. Jack has 3 AQHA performing offspring. Many of his other foals have gone on to be great rodeo horses or rope horses competing and earning money in different associations.

We are excited about this pairing and can’t wait to see how Cri Kee matures and develops. With both Jack’s and Charjody's proven offspring, she should be able to really shine rather it is in the arena, breeding barn or show pen!  We plan to retain Cri Kee for our program since this is Charjody’s EIGHTEENTH and final foal as she will be retired after weaning this filly.  We are grateful to have been able to retain 2 daughters of this GRAND mare! Cri Kee has entered our broodmares and Magellan Topsail JW by Goldun Topsail is her first foal. She is exposed back with him for a 2025 foal.
